Obituary for Ethyl Kenes (Savage)

Ethyl (Savage) Kenes, 91 of Uniontown, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Highlands Hospital, Connellsville, Pa.

She was born on April 24, 1926 in Uniontown, daughter of Frank and Mary Savage. She was the last member of the Savage family, preceded in death by her parents, and brothers and sisters, Charles, Elizabeth, Margaret, Mary, and George.

Ethyl was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church. She was very active in the local veteran’s organizations. She had been a member and Treasurer of the General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 Auxiliary, and worked during the steak and spaghetti dinners. She was a member, Historian, and Secretary of the Catholic War Veterans, and was very proud of the award that she received for the historical books which she created.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving and devoted husband of 52 years, John Kenes; children, Darlene “Dolly” Litman and husband Vic of Connellsville, Pa., Richard “Rick” Wilkovich and wife Diane of Columbia Station, OH; stepchildren, Jonetta McKinney of California, Lucetta “Skeeter” Kloss of Michigan, John Daniel Kenes of Virginia, and George Michael Kenes of Oliver, Pa.; 19 Grandchildren; 34 Great Grandchildren, and 7 Great- Great -Grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Wednesday, October 25, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.; and on Thursday, October 26 from 9 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. when the Panachida Service will be held.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Uniontown, Pa., with Rev. Father Ronald P. Larko as celebrant.

Interment will follow in St. John Byzantine Cemetery, Hopwood, Pa.

Amedisys Hospice “We Honor Veterans” honorarium will be held on Wednesday at 3 p.m.; a Memorial Service conducted by the Amvets Post 103 Ladies Auxiliary will be held at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary ceremony at 5:45 p.m.

The Parastas Service will be held on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.
