Angeline "Jay" Franks
Angeline “Jay” (Fiorenzi) Franks, age 93, of Hibbs, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday May 16, 2017.
She was born on April 9, 1924 in Marianna, Pa., a daughter of the late Charles Angelo and Rose (Camilli) Fiorenzi.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Samuel V. Franks Sr., whom she married on July 24, 1946. Also preceding her in death were her brother Fred Fiorenzi and sisters Mary Fiorenzi, Lena Chan, Viola Soloway, Ann Paull and Emma Michale.
Angeline was a member of the former Holy Rosary Church in Republic, PA and currently was a member of Saint Francis of Assissi, Footedale, PA.
During WWII, she was employed as a “Rosie the Riveter” helping produce war supplies in Hudson, Michigan. She also worked as a teacher’s aide for the Albert Gallatin School District. She loved to cook and won several cooking contest, including one in which her recipe was published in a national magazine.
Angeline was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her three children; Gail Ann Franks, Hibbs, PA with whom she made her home, Samuel V. Franks Jr., and wife Patty, Uniontown, PA., and Mary Piccolomini, Uniontown, PA., Grandchildren Samuel J. Franks, South Park, PA., Jeanine M. Piccolomini, Uniontown, PA, Vincent A. Franks, Bridgeport, WV, great-granddaughter Scarlett M. Franks, South Park, PA and many loving nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc. 603 North Gallatin Avenue Ext., Uniontown, PA., 15401 on Friday May 19, 2017 from 2-8 p.m. and on Saturday May 20, 2017 until 9:15 a.m. when prayers of transfer will be said.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. in St. Francis of Assissi, Footedale, PA.
Interment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, PA.
