Obituary for
Francis B. "Frank" Koleck
Francis B. “Frank” Koleck, 89, of Bitner, PA, died on Friday, January 13, 2017 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. He was born on March 27, 1927 in Dunbar Township, PA, son of Joseph and Anna (Mayher) Kolek.
Frank was the last member of his immediate family, preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife of 63 years Anna Marie (Sepkovic) Koleck in 2012; brothers, Andrew, Paul, John, Joseph, and Stephen; and sisters, Sue Bury, Ann Sapp, and Mary Biler.
He is survived by his children, Lou Koleck and wife Sue, and Claudie Bryan and husband Casey, all of Uniontown; grandchildren, Ken Bryan and wife Chelsey of Charleroi, PA, and Ashlie Fearnow and husband Scott of Austin, TX; and many nieces and nephews.
Frank was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Connellsville, PA, and retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp, where he was a welder, and a coal miner. He was a member of UMWA District 2, and Local Union # 1197. He loved hunting and fishing, and was an avid gardener, and member of the Juniata Sportsmen Club, Valley Sportsmen Club, and a social member of the West Leisenring Volunteer Fire Dept.
During WWII, Frank proudly served his country with the United States Navy
in the Pacific Theater of Operations.
Friends will be received at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Monday, January 16, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.; and on Tuesday, January 17 until 9 a.m.
The Funeral Mass will follow on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 908 W. Crawford Ave., Connellsville, PA.
Interment will be held at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, PA where military honors will be accorded by George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103.
